15 September 11 November 2000 Private view: Thursday 14 September 6-8 pm Chris Cunningham will bring his visionary world into the Anthony d'Offay Gallery with a new video installation. A London-based artist, Cunningham is internationally known for creating and directing music videos for artists such as Björk, Madonna and Aphex Twin, and for having spent some of his teenage years sculpting models for special effects teams, later working with Stanley Kubrick. flex, is a video which aims to awaken one's senses through the sound of electronic music, unforgettable images of both sexual violence and breathtaking serenity. Appropriately, it is shown for the first time in Apocalypse: Beauty and Horror in Contemporary Art at the Royal Academy, an exhibition curated by Norman Rosenthal and Max Wigram, which opens on September 23 and runs until December 15. Chris Cunningham was born in Reading, Berkshire, in 1970.
